Great Newsletters: Fatigue and Fibromyalgia. Today's is for ALL: Myths!

I've been working on a blog about why Grand Junction is the destination tomorrow of President Obama, and there is quite a lot going on here which I want to include on Lumigrate since we're located in Grand Junction and have had the pleasure of interacting with many of the companies and people involved in the interesting story of how the health care here is worth his examining.  In years past, those efforts were scrutinized and criticized and stood the tests of the legal system and time ...  read more »

Some People ...

Mardy Ross's picture

One of the unique things about Lumigrate is that I've worked in the health care arena since the mid-90s and have also found my way through some health challenges since about the same time.   That combination changed the dynamic of how I treated patients (I understood where they were 'at'), and therefore it changed what I received from them as their therapist.  The concept you see on the home page of Lumigrate, which is about YOU (the medical consumer) having the central 'spot' in your healthcare team and getting the best palate of providers and support around you (including g  read more »

If "You Are What You Eat", Don't be Sweet!

Mardy Ross's picture

As you know if you're following Lumigrate, our goal is to not only provide progressive, quality medical education and direction toward good sources, but to help empower each person who wants to have their 'highest health' (and if not, please click on 'Learn More' in the top box on the home page area, and also review the 'You' model on the home page).   Because I've been finding my path to health and well being since the 90's, I've covered some ground that many people around me have not, and that includes 'what you eat'.  It has become second nature to me to know what oils are  read more »

Tired All the Time: Ever Heard of Adrenal Fatigue?

Mardy Ross's picture

It's good to see how many people who are following Lumigrate are interested in the connection to what we put into our bodies and health and I wanted to bring nutrition in again.  One of the topics that we're frequently asked about, and are really trying to help people become aware of, is 'adrenal fatigue'.  Tonight Dr. Rollins will present about fibromyalgia, and he's going to be referencing both Dr. Teitelbaum's work and Dr. James Wilson, a naturopath and chiropractor (AND a PhD in Human Nutrition from Univ.  read more »

Mardy Ross's picture

I was wanting to bring something into today's blog related to nutrition, since it's 'been all about pain' for the past week, because we realize our following is a diverse group of people interested in healthy eating and nutrition, the environment, health care reform, food allergies, complimentary medicine, etc.  I love the topic of chronic pain, but 'allright already'.  Let's talk about what to put in salads or something!   read more »

The Role of Physical Therapy in Chronic Pain Management", by Christine Zampach, BS PT, MEd, DPT

Mardy Ross's picture

The last speaker of the day was Christine Zampach, BS PT, MEd, DPT, who is an Associate Clinical Professor, UCSF Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science as well as Physical Therapy Consultant, UCSF Pain Management Center.  She presented on 'The Role of Physical Therapy in Chronic Pain Management'.  My earlier presentation touched upon the difficulties of chronic pain patients I had worked with in their previous pursuits to find a PT; many had tried PT but the treatment had caused a flareup so they didn't go back.  I really suggest to patients they follow up  read more »

Balance at the Workshop on Chronic Pain was Complementary!

Mardy Ross's picture

Again, Charalambos Kesta, Medical Content Producer / Director of the documentary series on chronic pain which hosted the workshop this past weekend, brought together an impressive array of presenters -- integrating medical doctors and adjunct medical providers (such as myself) with a wide array of 'complementary' practitioners.  The website for his project is wwwhead2toe.tv. Some of the providers are allopathic in their training and now are also thinking outside that box.   read more »
