News Coverage of H1N1 and Health Care Generally; Blog Xfer from Fall 2009

This is the blog post from last Labor Day when the story ran in The Denver Post -- an interview I had initiated obtaining when I saw a need based on what the paper was covering about H1N1, which was seeming to me to be very biased towards immunizations, and I knew there was more that people could be doing to keep from getting sick or if they did catch a bug to not have it affect them so much.  This links to the actual Denver Post online article, which is VERY entertaining about me drinking 'poison cocktails' as a kid and then if you want to see wht the online readers who wrote had to s  read more »

Reorganizing and Cleaning Up for Spring, FMS/CF Awareness, Anniversary, Birthday .... Busy!

Mardy Ross's picture

Life is a process, a cycle.  And websites are like people and seems to have developmental stages, just like kids and people do.  Lumigrate will pass it's one year anniversary this week on Saturday, March 27th, and the following Friday Mardy will turn 50.  The way Lumigrate evolved from an idea to a reality, not exactly as Mardy had planned because a person doesn't work in a vacuum -- you're influenced by the people you utilize for your information and by who comes to work for you, the economy, and your life events.  I hate to compare you to a spaghetti noodle, but when I  read more »

Intestinal Health and Your Immune System -- Commonalities for Flu/Colds, Cancer, Colitis ?!

Mardy's note: This was originally a blog which had over 400 reads over two years. In updating information to keep it 'undusty', I transferred it here in 2010 and now in 2011 and updating this as well:  Dr Lepisto and Audrey Barrett are not longer with the Integrative Medicine Center; in the spring of 2010 they moved out of the center with Dr Lepisto heading to a downtown office in Grand Junction and Audrey being over near St. Mary's hospital in the Medical Arts Plaza that shares a parking lot with 7th Street Deli; Dr.  read more »

5 Things YOU Can Do About "Flu" and "Cold" Viruses; Biggest Blog aBout Bugs in 2009 Xferred Here

This was originally a blog from October 2009, which in 2 years had well over 1,000 reads). I transferred it here in 2010 for the 2010/11 flu season so people could find it in the forums -- putting it in two different places since forums are organized by topics and this information has to do with influenza ('illness model') and overall wellness model/lifestyle.    read more »

News Coverage of H1N1 and Health Care Generally; Blog Xfer from Fall 2009

There is a lot of awareness and scrutiny right now -- perhaps 'criticism' related to what the media is providing us with for information.  I thought it would be interesting to add something here about our recent experience with The Denver Post doing a story about influenza.   read more »

Solstice -- YOU, the SUN, Vitamin D and Cold and Flu; Blog from 12/21/09

Today is solstice -- in the part of the world I live in, it is the 'shortest day of the year' .. meaning the least seconds of sunlight, and then from here our days get longer.  As my father knew and told me long ago, it continues to shift for a while as to what times the sunrise/set are, so it sometimes feels like the days continue to get shorter but in fact they're not.  I found out rapidly through people in the facebook group today that across the Earth there are people at their summer solstice now.  read more »
