Tell Us About "The You Model" and YOU!

Mardy Ross's picture

I'm playing a little game with myself today and hoping you can help me.  What elements would you put into something in order to teach people what they might want or need to know about chronic pain and illness and the base concept of Lumigrate, which is the 'You Model' of the home page?  You'll literally be helping formulate a big project which I'm working on the outline for right now.   read more »

Mangling Medicine - Early Intervention for Chronic Pain

Mardy Ross's picture

When you're done reading this, hit that 'Forums' tab on the pretty purple bar under the Lumigrate logo, please!  It's what I'm really REALLY asking people to 'go and do'. I got up super early today thinking I was going to get this blog written and off my 'chest' or 'mind' and then go take another REM cycle. I was supposed to ski tomorrow with a friend and due to travel schedules, I've had difficulties getting one of the providers I'm hoping to write in Lumigrate settled in.  read more »

Finding Progressive and GRATE Providers in YOUR Area; How to Do It; Example of the One I Did for Western Colorado

Since people in conversation typically ask 'what do you do?' when you meet, I'm frequently explaining what Lumigrate 'is about'.   My answer basically is: Valid, streamlined and FUN consumer/patient empowerment through education about progressive concepts such as 'integrative' and 'functional' medicine concepts, and focusing the "light of health and well-being" on information about chronic pain and illness, including the very common "fibromyalgia and fatigue spectrum disorders".   read more »

Minding My Business -- And My Business is a PAIN... er, about PAIN

Mardy Ross's picture

Well, everyone -- I've been on facebook and said my 'aloha' to Yenta and her writer, as they are going on a little cruise to celebrate a birthday, an anniversary and to get away and take some time off for HEALTH.  (Aloha means 'hello', 'goodbye' and 'I love you', I am learning from my Hawaiin-influenced friends.) And I'm pleased to say that I have news about the health of Lumigrate that I hope will make YOU very happy.   read more »

Facebook and Fibromyalgia "Activists" - Ideas, Organization, Synergy!

Fibro Awareness Day is in May and last year that fell about a month after Lumigrate launched.  It was an exciting day for us because of facebook!  It has been my observation that many people are out there looking for information and somehow missing the good resources that are on the Internet.  People had spent tons of time online and hadn't heard of some of the basic information that could have really helped them.  So I want to start providing solutions about that, and offer Lumigrate as a place for people "active" in the fibromyalgia community to come and  read more »

Gratification and Reflection Inspired from People with Chronic Pain This Week

Mardy Ross's picture

I was planning to write today about two providers who have joined my personal health care team this year, a DO named Ilene Spector and a body/mind/spirit trainer, Analii, as they will be part of the Forums area at Lumigrate.com in the very near future.  We'll be discussing what their techniques are and then how it relates to what they've "done" when they've worked with me and use the Topics and Comments to have a dialog that others around the world can utilize to learn from, PRINT, and hopefully recreate a similar experience in their own community of providers.  (Keep in  read more »

Getting Back At IT, in 2010... Chronic Pain and Fatigue, Fibromyalgia and On and On ...

Mardy Ross's picture

Everyone needs a vacation and you have a little vacation from Lumigrate while we were down for a while.  I actually didn't have a vacation, I was busier than ever.  I got to spend some quality time with my family "back home", which is precious to me since we are at a critical time with my aging father and with a new baby granddaughter via my sister's husband's daughter.  I got to see my friends the previous month which was the only time for 2009, and had hoped to go back this week to see my best friend competing this week at the National Western Stock Show in Denver  read more »

"Procedures" as Interventions for Chronic Pain - Invasive and Non

Part of the fun challenge of the evolution of Lumigrate.com is seeing what people contribute and ask about and then figuring out how to structure things in a way that allows us to accomplish our intentions -- make it valid, progressive, fun and streamlined (as people are short on time and energy and quite frankly often tired of looking at the computer but it is SUCH a great tool, eh?).   I just noticed that someone had written a question in the fibromyalgia pain medication section that maybe falls into the category of 'procedure'  -- then within that realm there perhaps  read more »

Tips on how to get moving when you body says "NO"

We all have them. The days that the last thing we want to do is exercise. We would rather turn out all the lights, crawl under the covers, and try to sleep until the pain stops. BUT.... if you get moving it WILL help. It doesn't take much...just a few stretches, a walk to the corner and back...

Here's what I wrote in my blog on flourishwithfibro.wordpress.com on what helps me.....  read more »
