Our favorite recipe to reduce Fibromyalgia pain is:

Epsom Salts (1 cup)

Peppermint Oil (5 drops)

Eucalyptus Oil (5 drops)

Mix these together and soak in the bath.

You'll be amazed at the difference!

Re: Flare-Up Tamer Recipe

I have one question though...how much water in the bath...a full bath...a half bath or what?

Thanks, Tammy

Re: Flare-Up Tamer Recipe

Hi Tammy,

From what I have read other places, you'll want to do a full tub, so that the water is over your legs at least.   Epsom salts are a great thing!!   And the oils are amazing at how much they help!

Another addition, to help with energy in the mornings, is a hot cup of water, 2 tsps honey and a dash of cinnamon.    I have been amazed at how good this is and how much it has helped me get my days started.   Don't drink it after about 3 p.m. though if you want to go to bed at a reasonable time!!    My next experiment will be with honey and lemon which is supposed to help sleep!

Another option is a massage oil.

1 ounce carrier oil (baby oil, unscented lotion, olive oil, etc)

5 drops peppermint

5 drops lavendar

3 drops chamomile

2 drops clove

I love this for massages!

Take care everyone!

The BEST

You guys are the best... I really like to see the interaction.  Aimee... what do you suppose is in the water, honey, cinnamon that makes it so you're stimulated if taking it... or is it that something happens metabolically from it?  That's really intersting!  Thanks for your input!  And I LOVE that essential oils are being discussed.... and used! ~~ Mardy

Re: Flare-Up Tamer Recipe

I don't know what it is!   A friend on another fibro board was using it and noticing it helped, so she suggested it to the rest of us.   I was frankly surprised that it helped as well as it did for me.  I'm a VERY slow start in the morning, if I make it up in the morning at all!

Good Answer: "Don't know!" and "It just does!"

That's as good an answer as any ... Thanks, Aimee... Mardy

Re: Flare-Up Tamer Recipe

Hi everyone, I have been using Dead Sea Salts in the bath as I have been unable to get hold of Epsom Salts. I think they are really effective too. Great Website :) Hugs Claire.

Re: Flare-Up Tamer Recipe

Well, I guess I need to try that remedy.  I already do the epsom salts baths frequently.  I especially like to to a whirlpool bath with epsom salts just before bed to relax my muscles enough to allow me to go to sleep.  Sometimes when I wake in the middle of the night hurting or with muscle tightness I go for the epsom salts bath.  It REALLY helps.

I was not happy that I could no longer find a large bag of epsom salts in Walmart, but I found two large bags of epsom salts in a package at Sams Club, so I was happy.

Aimee, thanks for the pick-me-up drink recipe.  It sounds like something I would enjoy.  I recently discovered a big mug of hot lemonaide first thing in the morning will help will irregularity whenever it becomes bothersome.

Thanks for posting all this info everyone.  Keep it up.  I need to learn something everyday.  My mother always told us "The day is not wasted if you learn something."

Alice (and her mom) ... good advise!

Alice -- by getting off the subject you actually tell us where to go!  In a good way!  Avocation (or 'hobbies and leisure as it is called also') is an area that has to do with 'integrative medicine' and provides a garden for people to come to and talk about things that are part of our 'paradigm'.  Healthy plants make for cleaner air!  I'm going to give you some credit for what you just wrote here on facebook ... thanks, as always, for all you do when you come into facebook or the website here and contribute.  It gives me such happiness to know that YOU are benefitting from it ... it's all about YOU at Lumigrate.com ~~ Mardy

Re: Flare-Up Tamer Recipe

I have written once, but don't know where it is!

I have sooo many food sensitivities, and after cutting all 72 of them out for 2 yrs was tested and had developed a few more.

SO I am now thinking its Leaky Gut, (did have colonoscopy and it was inflammed.) and that I am not benefitting from all the good food and supplements, so now I'm REALLY concentrating on healing my gut.

Found a good site that takes you steps on how to heal it. Psyllium (Colon cleanse), activated charcoal sometimes, MSM,slippery elm and marshmallow root (YUCK) and caprillic acid, oh and digestive enzyme and probiotics.

Have just started, so we'll see. Anyone else like me? and how have you healed your colon.

Re: Flare-Up Tamer Recipe

I have got something from Walmart called Batherapy. I get the sports one which is using the ingredients you have listed. There are different ones of the Batherapy. I get in a hot tub of water and pour some of it in and sit and relax. It does help.
