New Benefits re: 9/11 Workers Include Cancers; Body/Toxins to Blame? Mind and Spirit Aspects Must be Remembered!

Mardy Ross's picture

Today I want to talk about psychological trauma, as it is clearly a big part of 'the 9/11 story', which we are generally celebrating and acknowledging and in my case, studying, today. There are countless thousands who were directly involved eleven years ago, who woke up one day like every other day, and walked or rolled along to get around in their life in New Yor City just like every other day.  read more »

What Your Yenta Learned in Russia About Beauty from Tanta Petzel
Hello my dawlinks!  It's your Yenta, and once again I've been shlepping my cookies around, but this time I went abroad to the homeland.  I still have family in Pinsk (Russia) and we've been in contact for quite a while so I finally picked up and went to see them. Oy! The joy it brung to mine heart.

Most of my relatives still live the "simple" life of farming.  Not so simple, kindeleh, I should tell you.  read more »

In the wake of recent scandals involving mercury in face cream, formaldehyde in hair products and lead in lipstick, the House Energy and Commerce Committee has called the first official Congressional hearing on cosmetics safety in more than 30 years. The hearing will take place March 27.

Nutrition and Chronic Disease - Presentation by Jimmy Thompson, MD

Earlier this week, I felt the light shining a LOT brighter on the path to health and well-being for people receiveing their medical advice in Grand Junction, Colorado.  Pulmonologist Jimmy Thompson, MD, was standing in front of a very full lecture arena when I walked through the doors just after 7 am. Anyone who understands what happens with medical conditions caused by 'adrenal fatigue', and how to recover, will understand why it is a sacrifice for me to interrupt the later part of my sleep cycle to go to something at 7 am.  read more »

9/11, Gulf War Syndrome, Fibromyalgia/Chronic Fatigue/MCS/PTSD; Commonalities and Commiseration Respectfully

Mardy Ross's picture

It struck me, when watching a show on CNN about the women of 9/11 over Labor Day weekend, as the 10th anniversary of "9/11" approaches, the similarities between the stories they were showing of people who had been responders at the site and "well / healthy" at the time, who now have chronic illness, and the people I 'serve' through Lumigrate -- our YOUsers.  My work as an occupational therapist for over a decade of hands-on experience, my years of being involved in communities and circles of people I know personally, and most recently the inter  read more »

Tales of the Wandering Boob
Katrina Remembered: “Yes, my love, this is how it goes”
This is not an easy post to read.  It was not easy to live through, nor write.  But it has been one of the most rewarding of my life.  I hope the readers of Lumigrate find it helpful, especially around those difficult, vital life-changing times with a loved-one's passing and how it changes the lives of those living on for a while more.

I would be interested to hear from any of you regarding your reactions, responses or impressions.

Thanks -- Beth
