State of .... the Union, of Lumigrate, of YOU? Me?

2011 has gotten well underway and today, January 25th, is the annual State of the Union. I'm providing the White House's website link for anyone who wants to follow it. I found many interesting facts there on this visit and it's always nice to be reminded of the history. My mother impressed upon me the importance of learning history as it's a key piece to planning for the future. I personally am working currently to be in the present. To BE. So far, so good.
I also thought I'd post a little piece here about the state of the Lumigrate, because we've had some interesting things happening. Due to everyone who is getting behind Lumigrate's mission to be a trusted source of progressive, valid, streamlined and FUN information related to health and well-being from an integrative medicine standpoint, which involved the mind, body, spirit 'collaboration' doing everything they have in the past, our present is really quite good. Our growth rate of new users is right where a business in it's second year would want to be. Thanks to all who contribute content; many hands, light work!
I've been quite impressed with the latest numbers on the podcast related to healing and music -- something that hits the FUN button I had planned, and by pairing Dr Chris Young and Rock Cesario, two long-time pals from way back in the 70s, it certainly was fun. Chris has been incorporating new information he's finding into his treatment of patients and so was really quite 'up on his stuff' related to what goes on in the body/brain/spirit related to music. Due to YOU all helping promote it, we've been able to reach many people, and I wanted to thank you for that.
I continue to work on bringing more sources to contribute at Lumigrate who will further the information here and allow us to continue to meet your needs for information. I hope we do so in an enjoyable and appropriate fashion. One of the innovations of 2009 was to introduce the Yenta, and at about a year she wrote a lovely piece about Peace in her Forum. Then she made some Peace Fleece and sent me one, which I'm taking around to raise awareness about Lumigrate and fibromyalgia. When a 50 year old woman is dragging around a blanket that's as special and beautiful as the Peace Fleece, people tend to want to know more. So I thank Yenta for that, and everyone who helps spread the photos and word about what we're doing with the Peace Fleece. You can hear about it at the start of the podcast, as we used it for the tablecloth and the guys admire and describe it in their words. I'll also provide the link for that for you as well.
So that's a bit about our State today. I'm looking forward to hearing tonight what President Obama says. I'm looking forward to seeing the amalgam that is perhaps starting to form from politicians who are wanting to do things differently and are going to do so by sitting on the opposite side of the aisle than their 'peers'. That's the kind of thinking that we have at Lumigrate... as I say, I like to color JUST outside the lines. I hope you find it helpful. And let's hope the PeaceFleece has it's place in bringing peace related to health care and information, particularly for those with chronic illnesses such as fibromyalgia and related disorders. Let's fix what needs fixing and let's move forward. ... Anything can be improved.
These were words spoken by President Obama in the State of the Union address. He went on to say he is not willing to go back to the days when insurance companies can deny coverage because of pre-existing conditions.
Health care was swept into a one hour address where we were asked as a nation to reinvent ourselves. He underscored our history based in innovation and education. He focused a great deal initially on education, and since Lumigrate is about health care education and self-help related to health care, I was pleased to see this included as such a centerstone.
He spoke of dreams to reinvent companies or individual's pursuits and used as an example the company in the US which is headed by an owner who felt he could do "Plan B" for the Chiliean miner rescue and worked 3 and 4 days at a time without sleep over 37 days to lead a rescue which was successful. The owner didn't want to be perceived as doing it for the media attention so returned to the US to work on his next project. His pride was visible on the television however, tonight, being asked to attend the State of the Union and help inspire the country today.
The summary words of America Endures and Our Destiny is Our Choice resonated greatly in the end.
Personally, I found many things inspiring in this address. And I hope you did as well.
