Simple Pleasures

I'm posting this just as spring has come officially. It's the season for renewal and replenishment, and yet the news from the world this spring has been filled with images of conflict and natural disaster. The Japanese people, in particular, have been faced with unprecedented challenges.
How does anyone cope with such difficult challenges in life? Whenever I am faced with seemingly impossible situations out of my control, I have always found comfort and joy in simple pleasures of nature: the brightness of the moon, a bird's song, the budding of a flower.
Take a few minutes each day to focus your attention on the simple pleasures around you. Open your eyes to the beauty that surrounds you and you will discover the serenity you carry within yourself.
