Here's the content of a blog from May of 2009 which had over 500 reads there, so I thought I'd freshen it up and bring it here where it'll be seen by people looking in this area of Lumigrate.  Enjoy reading.  Learn ... pass it on!  (Hitting the 'Print) icon will provide you with something really snazzy looking to post, give, share!  THANKS!

Last night, Lumigrate attended the well-attended live seminar at "the IMC" (link below): "Bioidentical Hormone Replacement for Women" by medical director Scott Rollins, MD.  Dr. Rollins' seminars on Lumigrate currently include 'Supplements and Disease Prevention" and "Hypothyroidism: Misunderstood, Misdiagnosed.... Missed!", so we are excited to now develop a seminar on what truly is his "claim to fame" in Western Colorado, which is bioidentical hormone replacement.  (He is the only doctor here certified by the Board of Anti-Aging and we all informally joke that he is the most popular man to middle aged women here!  His seminar even included some a funny moment where he says that a month after starting treatment he gets husbands and coworkers calling to make appointments.)

Hormones can be thought of as a teeter totter and they need to be balanced.  As we age, they predictably decline, and they serve important functions to our bodies:  Estrogen, testosterone and progesterone have to do with our mood, libido and mental clarity, regulation of blood sugar and insulin (which logically leads to body mass, so is a factor in weight loss), slowing bone loss, and has many positive effects for our cardiovascular system (one reason women's heart disease is lower at younger ages but not older).  How many people do YOU know who have problems with sleep/insomnia:  progesterone is an important hormone for our brains with relaxation and sleep patterns and breathing.

Progesterone works on GABA-A receptors similarly to how Valium or Xanax -- it's literally our body's own Xanax!  So, for anyone with fibromyalgia this might be very interesting information to look into .. and naturally stay posted with Lumigrate for the whole 'scoop' from Dr. Rollins when we have it prepared -- as with all our seminars, they are provided to thoroughly yet easily educate YOU.

We want YOU to be active partners with us and help us help you and others find higher health!   In the mean time, please take the time to learn from our existing seminars and let others know about us (including your medical providers).  Thank YOU in advance!  Mardy

Mardy's note from fall of 2011: The IMC underwent a lot of changes in it's first years, and in checking the link related to what education is on the website, I got a message that said 'gnarly, dude, you 404'd' (meaning the link not longer works) - hit your back button on your browser or go to the home page.  So I'm proving the link to the website for Integrative Medicine Center of Western Colorado, of which Dr. Rollins is Medical Director, if you're interested the link is:  www.imcwc.com

but / "And furthermore...." might be more accurate ....

I'm pleased to see that in 2011 Marc Spurlock, MD's clinic opened and he's loading his website with information, so I'll route you to his biography on Lumigrate where you can follow to his website as well: Hope that seems fair and thorough. They've both trained extensively for years from "A4M" (American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine, I believe A4M stands for.)

And to balance the hyperphysiologic dosing strategy promoted by A4M and those who subscribe to learning and prescribing that way, ITC Pharmacy's pharmacists and co-presidents offer 'physiologic dosing' strategies and education at Lumigrate. Find them in the Forums, there are two introductory podcasts, one focusing on them in general, the other about how they go about hormone testing and treatment using a NP who can work with any patient in the US.

We're pleased to have had the initial immersion with an integrative center for Lumigrate's formative years and pleased to have moved out through the Internet's beauty and benefits to find Dr Spurlock as well.

Editing this blurb / tip in about how-to be learning at Lumigrate's forums, or as a reminder on September 9, 2017.  (707 reads of this topic at this time.) Several topics in this forum have had 1,000 views or more, and I hope people are knowing how to navigate the website to find more in the 'area' of information you seek.

You can see the 'map' of the website .. Home on the left, then the Forums tab, then container/section. If you just click on the one at the end (right) you'll then see other topics in the forum.  If you click the one before that you'll see what forums are in the section, and if you click Forum you'll get the whole forum area. Click home and you get the landing page/home page.  I think people know that, they often don't think to click on the link to look into the forum at what other topics there are.  Particlarly when their brains are not working well, which --- is why you're here! So I hope that tip helps.

To make it easier if you'd prefer, here's a link to the forum showing all the topics that are in this sleep / insomnia forum.  www.lumigrate.com/forums/health-issuesdis-eases/sleep-and-insomnia

You will see a sleep survey provided by Dr. Jim Kennedy, DDS of the holistic kind.  I suggest you read and consider taking it and then taking action from there.  Take Care! ~ Mardy
