I moved to Grand Junction five years ago from Colorado Springs.  I'd left Fort Collins in 1996 when I graduated as an OT (occupational therapist).  While in OT school, at the age of 35/36, I was getting wierd symptoms, including waking up many times at night just drenched in sweat.  I started wearing Tshirts and getting up and changing them two-three times a night.  Somewhere along the lines I had a doctor prescribe bioidentical hormones which I had to order from Colorado Springs, which was great -- came right to me, easy as can be.  But when I moved to Denver and started going to different doctors (due to job/insurance changes), I wound up back on birth control pills.  If I could go back and do it all over again, I would have made the choice to go outside of my insurance benefits to obtain bioidentical hormones.  Anyway, I saw a compounding pharmacy had opened up over here and so I contacted them.  They routed me to Dr. Rollins, and he's done my hormones ever since.  I just turned 49 but I tease and say I'm really 60 -- 'it's the hormones'!  Truly, since then my health has really improved, and I believe bioidenticals are one piece of the puzzle.

In the last year I've seen his seminar several times -- he will present it at the IMC in mid April I believe (check the IMC website for date and sign up if you're interested.  We will record it later this mont to have available on Lumigrate later this spring.  It's a hot topic lately --- Oprah has given it some attention earlier in the year as well.  I'm looking forward to what you have to contribute here in the forum area.  The intention is for it to be a positive place for people to come and interact and learn.    Mardy

Re: How I found Dr. Rollins

Today I blogged about the live seminar last night by Dr. Rollins on bioidentical hormone replacement for women, so please refer to it for a summary (May 28, 2009).  I hope others who know Dr. Rollins personally or have used bioidentical hormones (or who prescribe them for people) will contribute to the forum area here so that others who are looking can learn, and Lumigrate can continue to grow as a valued and trusted resource for progressive health information.

Re: How I found Dr. Rollins

I had a compounding pharmacist come speak to one of my support groups about bioidentical hormones.  What an amazing wealth of information!

What made me cry that night was a woman in her mid 30's who has suffered terribly from night sweats, extreme mood swings and other symptoms.  Her doctor had done the basic hormone testing and said while she was very low, she was too young to consider hormone replacements.    She and the pharmacist were able to make a connection and this woman is now on a bioidentical hormone creme and doing SO much better!

I love when something I was hoping would just be informative turns out to be life changing for someone!!
