What I work to do at Lumigrate for YOU, the reader/ user/YOUser / consumer who comes here, is distill down the best information and link to the 'good wheels out there' on a variety of topics, focusing on ones you likely would not find otherwise, while bringing a cadre of people I 'know' professionally.

The Lumigrate YOU model, used from 2007 when co-developed with Dr. Chris Young in a brainstorming meeting with me for the patient education group we collaborated to co-create and co-lead in the Primary Care Partners / Docs on Call Building in Grand Junction, Colorado.

This creates a virtual community we can all feel part of, potentially, at Lumigrate. And then I ALSO 'integrate' the mainstream, when appropriate, to perhaps 'remind us' of the resources in the more prominent and readily found aspects.

I suggest if you're interested in meditation, take a trip to the following link to the National Institutes of Health's website for the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine's overview on meditation.  There are excellent references listed at the end which can be followed out for further learning.  For instance, I looked at the study about mindfulness meditation and autoimmune response.

To use the Nike marketing slogan: "Just Do It".  But really, don't just read about meditation -- DO IT.  I find that people, myself included, are so busy learning and studying and thinking and sharing and talking, they're using up their TIME resources (and their energy resources) NOT "doing it"!   We all only have 24 hours in a day, the only fixed resource, as money and energy vary always.

Balance -- it's all about balance.  Turning inward is generally helpful to people.  And then when you DO come out to learn, I hope you come BACK here!  Some would refer to The Full Barrel Model (which Lumigrate developed for our initial content in 2008 based on Dr. Christopher Lepisto (ND) referring to it in every presentation and discussion he had.

And in 2012 I'd have the 'load theory' / elevator model drawn up for those who thought more in those terms.

AND The Onion.

Where would YOU think about "meditation" being in each of these models?

Live and learn.  Learn and live better!

Today I function as the desk clerk for short questions people have, as well as 'concierge' services offered for those who want a thorough exploration of their health history and direction to resources likely to progress their health according to their goals. Contact Us comes to me, so please do if you have questions or comments. Lumigrate is "Lighting the Path to Health and Well-Being" for increasing numbers of people. Follow us on social networking sites such as: Twitter: http://twitter.com/lumigrate and Facebook. (There is my personal page and several Lumigrate pages. For those interested in "groovy" local education and networking for those uniquely talented LumiGRATE experts located in my own back yard, "LumiGRATE Groove of the Grand Valley" is a Facebook page to join. (Many who have joined are beyond our area but like to see the Groovy information! We not only have FUN, we are learning about other providers we can be referring patients to and 'wearing a groove' to each other's doors -- or websites/home offices!) By covering some of the things we do, including case examples, it reinforces the concepts at Lumigrate.com as well as making YOU feel that you're part of a community. Which you ARE at Lumigrate!
