I happened to catch this interventionist, Brad Lamm, on a daytime wellness show and 'tuned in' because of the simplistic way he was speaking and demonstrating eating addictions and changes. Then he talked about when someone eats out of boredom, and said 'break down what boredom is though'.........  his .  So....

I went to the website for him and looked around.  I say .   There is a recognition that some people need more or less help and in some cases it is a matter of a caring family member or friend 'intervening'.  It seemed to be fairly based on 'here's information to do with on your own and if you need training, here are resources.  If you need more help, we are available for that as well."  No gimmicks to get you to sign up before you can look around, etc.  I just felt this was an excellent resource to provide here. I liked the succinct life story starting in the 1960s in a religious family and including a marriage to someone of the same sex and officiation details.

I hope you agree that Brad Lamm is a good resource to include for those who might be looking for this type of information and assistance.  bradlamm.com/index.php

Naturally, we have the video from Dr Paula King on Strategies for Lasting Change, for those who are wanting a guided imagery activity and information from one of the countries top experts in that field of psychology, and other 'coaches' certified in spirituality, life (Dr King is a health coach) in this forum.  But there is a 'stepwise' approach which is appropriate for us to be providing a resource for.

In the later part of March, I guided someone to the information Lumigrate had about the underlying cause of addiction stemming from pain -- pain to the spirit/soul of a person.  We discussed the history of the person and the family member I was consulting with traveled to be face to face with their loved one and 'peeled the onion' and found underlying issues from childhood.  (I had brought Adverse Childood Experiences into the education, which we also have at Lumigrate in the psychology forum).  They were continuing to find professional resources for this person and I realized there was a gap / lack of information about 'interventions'.

Then this week I was discussing how a family is going to benefit from all getting on the same page about standing up to a family member who is getting help for mental health issues, and I said 'it's almost like when you are trained for an intervention, it's just that you guys need to learn the ropes of the ins and out of how the system works for people living in assisted livings, because if the person feels you will take them home they'll have different interactions with the facility than if they KNOW that you're not going to do that.  Or if they think you might.  So 'group up' about that, is my recommendation. The best defense is a good offense sometimes.

So I hope this is a beneficial topic at Lumigrate for YOU, if you need it! ~~ Mardy
