Art Deco Vintage John Atencio Signed Peridot and Sterling Silver with 18k Gold Offsets and His Known-Triangular Features -- This ring has a lot of nuances and would make a great gift for someone who fancies John Atencio, custom fine jewelry, and perhaps the history that I think speaks from this ring.  

John Atencio was known in Colorado before he was known beyond, and I knew a jeweler who had turned down going in with John Atencio, and instead continued on being a solo act and putting his name on his creations, in the Front Range then in Grand Junction, Colorado.  Sadly, the jeweler I knew who was invited to join John Atencio died about 10 years ago, but the legend, John Atencio, is still alive and going strong.  (Riding his bicycle about 2,000 miles a year!) 

How things develop more "value" with age is interesting, and one of the details I realized with this ring is the "JA" is stamped as a mark, and his newer pieces of similar construction have a JA constructed in a beautiful "big way" that's part of the infrastructure on the inside of the ring. 

Does that make this more valuable as a result?  It would indicate it's from his "on the way up" times, from back when he wasn't selling as many pieces as he does today, so it's definitely "a collectible".  Read on, I'm going to connect you to a place in his website to watch a short video about him and his history and read how he "got the girl" when in college.

I'd notice the triangular cutout / dark details in this ring and learn when looking online that "triangles" and triangular, faceted stones in rings became something he was known for.  He has said he simply would look at what others were doing and do differently.  He attended my alma mater, Colorado State University, and studied business and art -- not jewelry making.  But then he got into making jewelry based on taking one class, and his girlfriend was in the class.  He dropped out before graduating, in 1973.
