We got busy about the flouride in the water situation in Grand Junction / western Colorado in the summer of 2012, before I started this section and forum specifically under the umbrella term of environmental medicine.  Most of the information about fluoride on Lumigrate resides in the 'supplementing what you eat and drink" forum which is in the nutrition section --- because that is what it technically, in the way fluoride is added to the water supplies in many municipalities in the United States, primarily.

Since 2012 there has been a LOT of increased awareness about fluoride being a toxin, thanks primarily to social media and the Internet and so many people being interested about fluoride today, as well as locals in communities having success with getting the treatment plant management's upline to make changes about 'feeding' fluoride at the treatment plants, which then gets into the local mainstream news at some point, as they then need to let people know about changes in fluoride content in the water. Plus it makes for great press, as it is called the great fluoride debate, or the great fluoride fight by those who have been advocating about the hazards of fluoride for 'ever'.

I spearheaded a group that came together about fluoride and called ourselves SWIG, for Safe Water is Great. And I spearheaded having the logo done, as we were putting the information from our standpoint on Lumigrate since I had the website platform, and I forsaw that water --- safe water as well as quantity of water and how it is obtained -- is going to be the next big resource commodity, similar to the way petroleum has been in the past.

To learn who these people are, or where we are having this lovely photo shoot, who our photographer was, etc, please go to the link, below and look at the topcis! (But that's me goofing it up with my glass.)

The fluoride group members of SWIG had full intentions of going forward in 2013 after the holidays and New Years with a plan we'd decided was idea. However, half of the group were the two main guys in the local group forming about rights, liberty and 'patriots', and the other was Dr Kennedy, a holistic dentist whose practice was picking up in 2013 after the economy was recovering after the 2008/9 downturn; in western Colorado where there was a booming petroleum gas drilling time again, it busted with changes in Colorado environmental laws which lead to scores of people leaving the area starting in January 2009. So this area was having more of a sudden shift in economy than most areas of the US. Naturally, this affects all medical providers, but in particularly the ones who do not take insurance or their services are not paid for by insurance and people have to come up with the cash for the service.

But in 2012, we were having successful little dinner gatherings to educate some key people about fluoride and start to get our 'chops' refined in terms of talking with various types of people about the issue --- start with those friendly to you and on your team, then increase to someone open minded to be included, but who was very conventional and mainstream as their job was within organized medicine in a management capacity.  Everyone gushed about it and the next day my phone, email, and Facebook would have early morning 'thank you for including me, I hope to be asked again". They wanted similar on other topics, actually, as these things with environmental health concerns end up being 'one thing bleeds into another'.

So here's the link to the forum that you'll see the fluoride topics in; I hope you will go and see them. Look also at the numbers of reads for the various topics -- more people were interested in the photo shoot for our photo, and our having the dinner parties than in the hard core information that was essentially our mission statement and overview topic on the more serious side.  This indicated to me how many people are looking for the human interest angle of things. So I hope we are interesting !

Live and Learn. Learn and Live Better! ~ Mardy

Sometimes I dedicate pieces to people who inspired me to create a new topic -- this one is to the woman I met yesterday who moved to the area at the same time I did but we'd never met before. She's been to a seminar after my time at the integrative center, and so that was a nice little 'coincidence' .. there were other bigger coincidences.  And she and I were so on the same wavelength about a LOT of things, it's like meeting a long lost friend from the past you'd never met before. And near the end of our longer-than expected conversation, I mentioned fluoride, to which she said 'WHY can't we get that taken out of the water here?' and so I said, oh, I have a story to tell you about THAT as well.  So here's the way you can find that story -- if you find this breadcrumb that will lead you to the info.
