Grain Brain and Dementia, Movement Disorders, and "Behavioral Wellness" and Mental Health. It's All Connected

St. Patrick's Day was yesterday and I had to chuckle at the information I was watching on television from the author of the current bestselling book Grain Brain, David Perlmutter, MD. His message strongly reinforces everything we've had for the five years since Lumigrate launched in March of 2009, and carries it orders of magnitude further in terms of focusing on things related to the brain and grains that have gluten in them. AND things that drive the blood sugar up and down and around. Ever heard of 'glycemic index'?  read more »

Mercury Toxicity, Common Sources and Health Effects: PhD and MD Researchers / IAOMT Conference Videos 'r' "GRATE"!

I'm glad you're interested in reading and viewing to learn more about mercury toxicity; it's a crucial topic for people to be more than 'familiar' with, in my opinion. I like to provide the YOUsers of Lumigrate leads to sources for learning that I find valid in the 'outside the box' choices that are increasingly available to chose from.  read more »

Mercury in "Silver" Amalgam Fillings: "Blame" vs. "Take Action". What Are YOU Going to Do?

Do you remember the great day and the great words "take down this wall"? Do you remember the images of that wall coming down? It appears to me that 'the wall' about dental amalgam fillings made of mercury and other metals is being taken down, hopefully with the same positive outcomes as when communism's symbolic and physical wall in Europe came down! Remember, things get worse for a while before they get better, even when most people are happy about the change.  read more »

Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement in Men: The Series Continues
Is it aging, or is it andropause? Men can lose hormones as they age, causing a wide range of symptoms that can be reversed through hormone replacement therapy (HRT).

Fix Your Broken Brain by Healing Your Body First -- The Gut is Key to The Ultra Mind Solution by Mark Hyman, MD

I initially created this topic about healing the mind and body on Martin Luther King Holiday, which is in January when there typically are people 'resolving' to make changes, often about the aspect of wellness that has to do with what we eat and drink, or 'diet'.    read more »

Angels and Demands

Hello my dawlinks!  It's your Yenta.  In all my travels I've seen all kinds of things; Oy vey az mier, liblings you wouldn't believe the things I've experienced!  The exciting, the questionable, the "what WAS that?", the "how incredibly sheyn/beautiful", the "this was a  G-d send!".  This was one of those G-d sends.

Link to Topic in Chronic Disease Management Forum about Lewy Body Disease/Common Dementia #2 to Alzheimers

This is the link to a topic in another forum at Lumigrate which applies here, so I wanted to 'catch you' if you were looking in this forum, related to the second most common form of dementia, and it can set on very gradually and appear different than the most common form, Alzheimers.  Here's the link:

Lewy Body Dementia and the Association's "10 Things You Should Know about LBD" (Plus My Experiences)

Lewy Body Dementia is the generally said to be the second most common form of dementia in people in the US, with some experts will say 'second or third'. In editing this topic on March 31, 2016 to include some things that have been made available since this topic was created, I might as well hit my soap box early on here to talk about the lack of reliability of data that is available in order to determine what disorders are happening.    read more »

Nutrition and Chronic Disease - Presentation by Jimmy Thompson, MD

Earlier this week, I felt the light shining a LOT brighter on the path to health and well-being for people receiveing their medical advice in Grand Junction, Colorado.  Pulmonologist Jimmy Thompson, MD, was standing in front of a very full lecture arena when I walked through the doors just after 7 am. Anyone who understands what happens with medical conditions caused by 'adrenal fatigue', and how to recover, will understand why it is a sacrifice for me to interrupt the later part of my sleep cycle to go to something at 7 am.  read more »

Brain Changes/Cognition Different in Men/Women and Trace to 40s? New Info Coming Out

I found this to be a very interesting article which has good links to other things that have come out recently which indicate that scientific studies are now seeing that the decline of cognition can be tracked back to mid-40s, which fits with what we've had on Lumigrate for a while now related to hormones and their effects on the body/brain systems. Not that I'm saying "I have the answers", but as with EVERYone, I have my thoughts, and I believe there's something in what this research is pointing to which has hormones at least as part of the equation.  read more »
