Darden Smith played a lovely, FUN, thought-provoking concert in Grand Junction on Saturday, April 2, and since he'd been interviewed by Rock related to the podcast we were recording last fall when they were lining out his stopping here on his touring and given permission to use a song Rock had chosen related to the topic, I wanted to thank him personally. So I stopped by with the PeaceFleece. Yes, that's not something that happens everday and since Yenta had said 'Honey, I thought you could use it to raise awareness or money about fibromyalgia with it', I think it's now done that with one of the nicest men from Austin, Texas!

It was just really neat to have so many people I know be out ON my birthday. Chris Young and his family and group were sitting right up front, as he's a guitarist and wanted to watch the fingers, I'm sure. To see people come in with the 'zone' or place they were in and then the magic of the music take it's effects was wonderful. However, I particularly enjoyed his 'tweener banter' when he was tuning. Darden strikes me as someone who has his head in the game, have overcome many things we all resonate with, and he writes about it in his music. He inspired ME because he doesn't leave his hotel room when he's on the road until he's written a song. That's basically my theory too, but I start working emails instead of using that time for writing of the 'important stuff'. So I'm going to use this spring season to get into some different work and life habits and hope to have people enjoying and benefitting from Lumigrate in the years ahead as he does in his concerts.
I asked him where he was going to be on May 12th, International FMS Awareness Day: "London". So perhaps he'll take some stories with him along the trail from here to there and do a little bit of awareness raising just by having HIS awareness Peacefully Fleeced while in Grand Junction, with Yenta's magical blanket.

The first person to hop up at the initial meeting of the Grate Group of 'starters' was Monica Cullinane, 'getting it' about the collaborative nature of the Grate Groove and the gestalt of fibromyalgia related to nutrition, her passion related to health in recent years. As a life coach as well as yoga instructor (Adacemy of Yoga in downtown Grand Junction), combined with certification in integrative nutrition, she has included fibromyalgia in her cooking class series by March of 2011! It was titled "Inflammation Vacation" since it was spring break timeframe, and you can follow the link below to read about it AND see how ITC Compounding and Natural Wellness Pharmacy hopped in to answer questions that I had to build upon things I learned in the class. She was off like the whirling Dervish she is, (I guess we can call her a Whirling Brazilian?
) so I didn't get a photo of her at the class with the PeaceFleece AND the night of the seminar she busily was speaking with people who wanted to sign up for future guidance with her and Dr Lepisto related to detox and cleansing and I had to whirl off before she was free. In April, being into collaboration as she is nowdays, she also co-presented with Christopher Lepisto, ND related to detoxification and cleansing on April 4 at Academy of Yoga to a really impressive group of health seekers, continuing the collaborative process of health education surrounding the Groove participants and hopefully making it a bigger and 'deeper' provider/information source on Lumigrate.com and in the Grand Valley of western Colorado.
Naturally, I had brought the Peace Fleece Yenta sent me last holiday season to promote fibromyalgia awareness through it's soft and warm ways, as it does, so have this photo to share here. The concept with the Grate Groove is to create a group of providers in Grand Junction who are good at networking and marketing themselves and a 'concept', who will give of their time to learn and teach others about the chronic illness of CFS/FMS and who will refer ethically and do the right thing for the consumers, patients, clients and literally 'wear a groove' from one door to the other. There's a nother organization in town called CHI/Collective Health Initiatives that has been formulating for two years and has attracted a lot of providers who are coming together to form a nonprofit it turns out, then go for finding funding and get a building -- at least that is their vision and intention. In the mean time, I saw a subset withing the group plus other people I know of who I thought would work nicely together. Below is our FIRST picture of Paule Stifler after she agreed to hop into the Groove with us! Just like Lumigrate's content, our content providers are more likely to show up and come back if we have FUN, so that's what we do! We look forward to each person reaching out to tell someone who fits with the above 'intention' our Grate Groove has.
